NETWORK OF NATIONS | August 2019 - May 2021

Network of Nations is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization serving international students studying at Northern Illinois University. Network of Nations aims to build a community between international students and the local community and churches. The organization launched many initiatives to bring international students together and into the community. Two main outreach efforts were Intercultural Café and Airport pick up. Intercultural Café occurred every Friday night, where local churches would provide free meals to eat and a place to meet other international students. Airport pick up was every semester, where students were provided a free ride from the airport to their place of lodging and a warm welcome. It can be extremely isolating to leave your home country and family behind to pursue education, so Network of Nations’ goal was to support the transition, provide any resources we could and help students find a sense of community.

GIVING TUESDAY / GIVE DEKALB CAMPAIGN

FUNDRAISING / COMMUNITY EVENTS

Outside direct donations, we collaborated with businesses for fundraising events. I made these promotional materials in order to remind our constituents to support us by supporting other businesses.

We also put on events for the International Students to participate in as another way to build community amongst the students.

INSPIRATIONAL POSTS

During the semester, especially during times of high stress, like midterms or finals, I would post encouraging reminders to extend that same feeling of community and as a reminder to the students that we are here for them.
